Box Tracker: Desktop application vs Driver application

Box Tracker is composed of two separate applications.

Desktop Application

The desktop application called Box Tracker, can be run on a laptop, desktop or tablet computer running any operating system that has an internet connection and a web browser. The application is platform agnostic, it will run on Mac, Windows, Linux, or Unix. All that is needed is an internet connection and a web browser. You browser choice, however, matters a great deal. The application is written perform best in a standards compliant browser like Google's Chrome, Mozilla's Firefox, and Apple's Safari all of which are available for download free from the various developers. Microsoft's Internet Explorer is not supported by the Box Tracker project.

With a desktop application, you can assign work to drivers, add and edit work orders, manage container activity add and edit customers, containers, and facilities, enter dump tickets, control the application from the options page and get a wide variety of reports about your dumpster business.

Driver Application

The driver application, called Box Tracker Driver, can be run on any smart phone. This application is tested on iPhone, Android, and Windows phones. Box Tracker Driver runs nicely with all of the default Web browsers on these devices but will give the highest performance using Google Chrome, Apple Safari, or Mozilla Firefox.

Using the driver application, your drivers can see and complete all work that has been assigned to them. The application also exposes functionality to facilitate communication between the driver and the customer, manage container activity, record tipping fees, and it includes on-board mapping to get your driver to and from the job site.
